Day 1
Checkout of Hotel
Drive through the Scenic Judean desert and Jordan Valley and see from the car: the Dead Sea, Jordan, and many sites mentioned in Tanach and the Gemara.
First stop has four recommended choices:
Eretz Bereshit- child friendly camel rides which take us to “Avraham’s tent” where
“Eliezer” his servant will give us food and tea. We will bake Pita breads the same way our forefathers would have in the desert
Or
Jeeping in the Judean Desert- starts at Kfar Adumim
Or
Quick Camel Ride at Almog
or
Third Temple Academy - Run by a Kohen (Priest), it was set up to train Kohanim to be ready to serve in the Third Temple when it is re-built. He set up different work stations connected to the individual services which he shows to tourists (for example, the different spices in the Ketoret (Incense offering)).We will bake Pita breads the same way our forefathers would have in the desert. A very visual and educational experience. Option for incredible working shops
Stops we can do along the way include:
Jordan River Crossing and Jordanian border - The spot where Yehoshua (Joshua) was said to have brought the Jewish people into Israel after 40 years in the wilderness (from here they will conquer, miraculously, nearby Jericho). Spot where Eliyahu Hanavi (Elijah the prophet) ascended to Shamayim (Heaven) alive. Interesting from a political point of view as this is the border with the country of Jordan and just about the closest you can get without actually being in Jordan (often you are just 20 feet from both an Israeli and Jordanian soldiers). For more on this site, check out this article I wrote: Jordan River
Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu- A religious Kibbutz which is a world leader in organic food. The Kibbutz is still collectively owned. Experience what it is like to live in a Kibbutz by planting and picking vegetables, feeding the animals, touching their organic bees (they don’t sting) and more. A must see for kids (and adults)!
Beit Shean- Israel's version of Pompeii and one of the best preserved Roman Cities in the world. For more on this site, check out this article I wrote: Biblical Beit Shean
Gangaroo - Unique Zoo dedicated to Australian animals. The highlight is the largest Kangaroo petting zoo.
Tiveria (Tiberias)- Stop for Lunch. Mehadrin restaurant option. After Lunch, Take an optional stroll along the board walk on the Kinneret.
Swimming in the Kinneret- separate beach option.
Mincha at Kever Rebbi Meir Baal HaNess
Otzar HaStam Tzfat- Experience being a Sofer Stam. First room is a multi visual trivia game on Mezuza’s, Tefillin, on Sefer Torah (there is a beginner’s option for kids). The next room is a movie with moving seats. The third room allows you to write on the parchment with the proper tools (and help of a real
Sofer) and bring your work home as a souvenir.
Short walking tour of Tzfat.
Maariv at one of the historic shuls.
Arrive to hotel for the night
Day 2
Shacharis at the Ari Shul- Where the Arizal took his Talmidim to sing Kabbalat Shabbat.
Breakfast at the Hotel
The Citadel- This was the largest Crusader fortress in the middle East. From the top, see one of the most spectacular views in the country (perhaps the world). On a clear day, we will see most of the Golan Heights, Kinneret, and Galil (Galilee).
Some of the sites we can visit include:
Menara cliffs- Steepest cliff in Israel. Take the cable car up to see an amazing view, and ride it down. The alpine slide here is a favorite of kids.
Rafting or Kayaking on the Jordan River
Banias- The highlight will be the waterfall which runs all year round
(a miracle in Eretz Yisrael).
Har Bental- A safe overlook of Syria (up to the outskirts of Damascus).
See the significance of the Golan Heights.
De Karina Chocolate factory- In the first room, see how chocolate is made. In the second room, eat enough chocolate to satisfy us for a year. In the third room, each of us will
make our own chocolate and bring it home with us (if we don't eat it first!).
Olive Oil Factory - In Katsrin which is known as the Capital of the Golan Heights
Katzrin Talmudic Village - Experience what is was like to live during Talmudic times (1600 years ago). Enter ancient homes and an original Synagogue from this time period
Drive back to Yerushalayim hotel.
