GALILEE AND GOLAN HEIGHTS TOUR
(3 DAYS IN NORTHERN ISRAEL)
Day 1
Pick up at Hotel
Drive through the Scenic Judean desert and Jordan Valley and see from the car: the Dead Sea, Jordan, and many sites mentioned in Tanach and the Gemara.
First stop has four recommended choices:
Eretz Bereshit- child friendly camel rides which take us to “Avraham’s tent” where
“Eliezer” his servant will give us food and tea. We will bake Pita breads the same way our forefathers would have in the desert
Or
Jeeping in the Judean Desert- starts at Kfar Adumim
Or
Quick Camel Ride at Almog
or
Third Temple Academy - Run by a Kohen (Priest), it was set up to train Kohanim to be ready to serve in the Third Temple when it is re-built. He set up different work stations connected to the individual services which he shows to tourists (for example, the different spices in the Ketoret (Incense offering)).We will bake Pita breads the same way our forefathers would have in the desert. A very visual and educational experience. Option for incredible working shops
Stops we can do along the way include:
Jordan River Crossing and Jordanian border - The spot where Yehoshua (Joshua) was said to have brought the Jewish people into Israel after 40 years in the wilderness (from here they will conquer, miraculously, nearby Jericho). Spot where Eliyahu Hanavi (Elijah the prophet) ascended to Shamayim (Heaven) alive. Interesting from a political point of view as this is the border with the country of Jordan and just about the closest you can get without actually being in Jordan (often you are just 20 feet from both an Israeli and Jordanian soldiers). For more on this site, check out this article I wrote: Jordan River
Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu- A religious kibbutz which is a world leader in organic food. The Kibbutz is still collectively owned. We will experience what it is like to live in a Kibbutz by planting and picking vegetables, feeding the animals, touching their organic bees (they don’t sting) and more. A Must see for kids (and adults)!.
Gangaroo - Unique Zoo dedicated to Australian animals. The highlight is the largest Kangaroo petting zoo.
Tiveria (Tiberius)- Interesting city culturally. One of Israel’s four holy cities. It sits beautifully along the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). In Roman times, the city was known worldwide for its natural hot springs (even today it is a spa city).
Mincha at Kever Rebbi Meir Baal Haness
Soaking in the Hamat Tiveria (Hot springs)- The Gemara says this is one of only 3 springs left from the time of the flood of Noach. The underground hot springs are mentioned many times in regards to Halacha. This was the town where Rebbi Meir actually lived. We will visit a shul from Talmudic times with it's beautiful mosaic
Option to stroll along the board walk on the Kinneret. Good place to have a nice lunch.
Maariv at Kever Rambam or Kever Rabbi Akiva
Check into Tiveria hotel
Day 2
Breakfast at the Hotel
Options for this day include:
Arbel Hike- One of the most spectacular views in the country. For part of the hike, we will be rappelling its cliffs with handles (family friendly but a good workout).
Boating on the Kinneret (options for Banana boating or speed boating)
Rafting on the Jordan River
Walking tour of Tzfat- One of the 4 holy cities and world center of Kaballah. Walk through its enchanting 500 year old alleys and artist colony.
The Citadel- This was the largest Crusader fortress in the middle East. From the top you will see one of the most spectacular views in the country (perhaps the world). On a clear day see the Golan Heights, Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), and the Galil (Galilee).
Menara cliffs- Steepest cliff in Israel. Take the cable car up to see an amazing view (can see Lebanon on a clear day)
Banias- An easy hike with a waterfall which runs all year around (a rarity in Israel).
Mincha at Amuka or Meron
The highlight of the day will be Tzfat:
Walking tour of Tzfat- One of the 4 holy cities and world center of Kaballah. Walk through its enchanting 500 year old alleys and artist colony.

Day 3
Options for this day can include:
Har Bental- A safe overlook of Syria (up to the outskirts of Damascus). Hear the significance of the Golan Heights and walk through former IDF (Israeli Army) trenches.
De Karina Chocolate factory- In the first room, see how chocolate is made. In the second room, we will eat enough chocolate to satisfy us for a year. In the third room, each of us will make our own chocolate and bring it home with us.
Olive Oil Factory - In Katsrin which is known as the Capital of the Golan Heights
Katzrin Talmudic Village - Experience what is was like to live during Talmudic times (1600 years ago). Enter ancient homes and an original Synagogue from this time period
Kibbutz Lavi tour - This religious kibbutz was founded in 1949 with Holocaust Survivors/Orphans from England (England took in Jewish Children as part of its “Kindertransport”). It is still collectively owned and has the largest shul manufacturing plant in the world.
Beit Shean- One of the world’s best preserved Roman Cities. Visit the ancient bathhouses, theater, hear some familiar stories and walk its streets. Mentioned several times in Tanach (Bible). For more on this site, check out this article I wrote: Biblical Beit Shean

You managed in the few short days we had in Israel to put together a wonderful itinerary perfectly suited for us. Your own deep spirituality was felt by us and made the trip heart felt. I'm not an easy traveler but you made things seamless for us. I appreciated your taking the time to answer my many questions. Your knowledge and love of the country is self evident."
